Hi, I'm Mike from Safety First School of Motoring and I provide driver training throughout Amesbury and the surrounding areas. I specialise in teaching you how to drive safely and help you to pass your driving test as quickly as possible.
As of June 2018, learner drivers are allowed on motorways. However, this is only with a qualified driving instructor and in a vehicle fitted with dual controls. The M3 is close by and motorway driving can be included into your lessons.
You may have passed your driving test some time ago but lost a little bit of confidence? If this sounds like you, then why not have some refresher driving lessons with Safety First School of Motoring and get your confidence back again.
I know that taking driving lessons in Amesbury can be expensive and the costs can easily add up.
That’s why I try to keep my prices competitive with everyone else in the local area.
No silly pricing gimmicks, just simple straight forward prices for you

Passing my driving test was one of the best days of my life. I cannot thank my driving instructor Mike enough. On every lesson, Mike was relaxed, made it enjoyable and made me feel more than comfortable even when having a bad day driving. Now that I’ve passed my driving test, it gives me the freedom and flexibility to go places.

Thank you for visiting my website and I hope that there’s enough information here to help you to decide to choose me as your driving instructor. You can read a little bit about me on the “meet your instructor” page by simply clicking on the link.
Did you know that driving instructors have to abide by certain rules and regulations from a governing body. They are called the DVSA and they lay down certain guidelines that we have to abide to. To help you to understand the role of a driving instructor and some of the differences between driving schools, I’ve wrote a few paragraphs which will hopefully help you to choose the right driving driving instructor for you.
Although you will see many driving schools in Amesbury floating around, probably the hardest decision you may have is knowing which one to choose? This may not be as easy as it sounds. We know that you want to pass your driving test as quickly as you can. But, our job is to teach you how to drive safely and not just how to drive just to pass a driving test. If we do our job properly, then the end result is that you should be able to pass your driving test. When choosing one of the driving schools in Amesbury or surrounding areas, you don’t necessarily have to go for the cheapest. Ask your friends or family who they had as a driving instructor and see if they can recommend a driving school.
Ok, so there are a fair few driving instructors in Amesbury and we all know what a driving instructor is and does. But did you know that we have to go through a very vigorous training program to qualify as a driving instructor? All of the driving instructors in Amesbury and indeed throughout the UK all have to pass three exams. These are known in the industry as Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3, we have to take these exams in that order. the Part 1 exam is similar to the Theory and Hazard perception test that a learner driver has to do but much much harder. Plus, we have to know so much more. The Part 2 is very similar to an advanced driving test. We have to drive for approximately one hour to a very high standard. The Part 3 exam is generally the toughest and takes the longest to pass. We have to demonstrate that we understand how people learn, how to teach, how to coach and we have to demonstrate a high level of instructional ability.
As well as offering driving lessons in Amesbury I also cover the surrounding towns and villages too such as Durrington, Larkhill, Andover and a few others. One of the key ingredients to successfully passing your driving test lie in your driving lessons. By taking regular lessons helps you to keep a consistent momentum which in return helps to keep the pace of learning going. By taking big gaps between your driving lessons can have an impact on your rate of learning. This can have an impact on the overall cost of learning to drive as you may have forgotten things from your previous lesson to the next. So, keep your driving lessons consistent.
